East Antrim Cyclo Cross

This Saturday the second cyclo cross event of the season takes place in Larne this Saturday 13th October, promoted by East Antrim Audi. This was a new event on the calendar last year and proved a great success with superb racing at this brand new venue.

 

Since last year the East Antrim Club have improved the course, it measures just over one mile in length, with two step over sections and thanks to Larne Council there will be a new stoned path section.  Riders will also be able to enjoy the fast flowing sections on grass.  Once again the East Antrim Club have the support of Larne Council and Seacourt Community Centre.  Best of all the vent has an increased prize fund for this year  which will include a team prize, plus a cup for the overall winner of the cyclo cross event.

 

Following the success of the opening cyclo cross event of the season at Lurgan, the format will be the same for the Larne race. Sign on will open at 10am.  Racing will begin at 11.30 with the U-8 and U-10 classes followed shortly afterwards by the U-12 race.  At 12.15pm the MTB race will begin which caters for all Senior riders plus U-14 and U-16 riders.  The main cyclo cross event will begin at 1.30pm.

 

The course will be signposted on the approach roads to Larne, all please note that the venue for the race is the Seacourt Community Centre.  Following racing, soup and rolls will be available in the Community Centre.

The XMTB Club will be holding their Cyclo Cross race at Castle Park in Bangor on Sunday 11th November. Details from caseybt14@tiscali.co.uk .  Banbridge CC will at last host the final round of the Ulster MTB XC League at Havelock Park in Banbridge on Sunday 18th November, details to follow.

 

The opening round of the Connaught XC League takes place this Sunday, 14th October at Moorehall near Ballinrobe.  Racing will be for all classes from U-10 upwards.  League events will take place between October and March with the organisers planning to have ten rounds in the series.  Sign -on opens on Sunday at 11am with racing starting at 12 noon.  Further information can be obtained from frankaerns740@hotmail.com or tel: Fran Kearns on 08530056263.
