Podium for Hamilton as MTBers challenge at UXC Rnd1
After a long winter MTB season has finally arrived again. Dromara CC members were well represented at several events during the weekend. First up was the first round of the Ulster XC cross country series, the event hosted by Apollo CC at Craigavon lakes.
The first event of the season it would give everyone a flavour of who the top runners would be for the rest of the year.
First up in the Under 6 fun race was Fiadh Kellett, she put in a sterling performance to obtain that much sought after goodie bag at the end of the race.
In the Under 10 race Aoife Kellett did the family proud again with a great 5th place finish. James Armstrong competed in the Under 12 race and had a great 5th place finish also.
In the Under 16 category Cameron McCusker certainly has the MTB bug putting in a great performance to finish 4th place.
In Senior 3 several riders competed, Graham Smyth came top of the list finishing 9th with Paul Hamilton finishing close behind in 10th place. Gibson Chambers put in a good shift in to finish 15th with Aidy Booth finishing in 17th.
In Senior 2 women Andra Hamilton took the only podium position of the day finishing in an excellent 2nd place.
Barry Kellett competed with the big boys in Senior 1 and finished a in very credible 4th spot just missing out on the podium.
Paul McClean and Peter Davison were also in action at the weekend competing in the first round of the Vitus First Tracks Enduro Cup held in Ravensdale. They did not disappoint with Peter finishing an excellent 8th in the Senior men and Paul finishing 10th in the Veteran Men competition.
All Dromara riders can now look forward to the start of the MTB club league which commences on Sunday 14th May.
