More podiums for the MTBers at the Irish XC NPS Series
Dromara CC mountain bikers were in action at the weekend attending round two of the Irish XC NPS series held in Slade Valley, Dublin. Several members of the club made the journey south to compete with some of the best XC riders in Ireland. They certainly did not disappoint with the first Podium of the day going to Ben Wilson who finished 3rd in the U16 race. Next up was Wanitta Broome in the Senior 2 Ladies who finished an excellent 2nd place, Wanitta’s season is starting to look promising as she maintains a steady run of great results. In the Senior 3 male race Brian Wilson finished a very credible 20th place with Gibson Chambers finishing 31st in what was a very tough race in challenging conditions. In the Senior 2 male race Davy Broome finished a superb 11th and in the big race of the day Barry Kellett finished an excellent 8th in the Senior 1 male race. Very well done to all riders who travelled to this nationwide event to keep the flag flying for Dromara CC.
Back on the home scene round 2 of the MTB club league was held last Tuesday night. In what involved a very steep climb followed by a very steep descent all areas of expertise were thoroughly tested in a tough 4 lap race. First across the line was Aidy Booth with his second club league win of the season. Next in was Brian Wilson in 2nd place followed by Paul Hamilton in 3rd place. Young James Armstrong took 1st place in the Junior section. MTB Club league round three takes place this Friday night(8th June), the word on the street is that it involves a very steep hill climb. Anyone interested in attending this social competitive event please contact Gibson Chambers or any Dromara CC member. Coffee, buns and midges will be available after the event.
