FAQ
Who is this holiday for?
It’s aimed at different age groups and cyclists of all levels. If the group is big enough we can split it into few smaller ones with different difficulty level. If you are into mountain biking you can go as well, there is plenty of trails in the area.
Could I take my wife/husband etc. with me?
You can even take the whole family if you want, we will try to organize time on the bike and of the bike to suit everyone and make sure no one is bored.
What’s the weather like?
It’ll be middle of summer, which usually means a lot of sun and high temp. Bear in mind though that we will be in the mountains and weather could be a bit unpredictable. There could be rain and around 15-20 degrees Celsius, but most likely expect plenty of sunshine and around 30 degrees. We will be staying roughly 800m above sea level, you can compare that to the height of Donard.
What about food?
We will be staying there on self catered basis and we will need to organize our own food. The place is well equipped though, with kitchen, dining room and all utensils. Also there is plenty of good restaurants in the area and most of them even offers catering services if you’re feeling too tired or lazy to walk to it. Alternatively if we get big enough group to go, we can arrange for someone to cook for us at the extra cost. Food is fairly cheap in Poland and really delicious too.
How we are going to travel?
We will fly direct Belfast to Krakow on the 30th July 2017 and return on the 8th of August. To save time and money we will hire cars, it will also enable us to travel locally in the area and make trips to supermarkets/thermal baths/restaurants or anywhere else we want to go. Transfer time will be roughly 3h.
What’s the actual cost of this holiday?
The final cost will depend on few different factors. For example how many of us goes or how many cars we need to hire and when we are going to book the flights? If you want you can stay just for 7 days and fly back home early which will save you some money.
If you wish to take your own bike it would be cheaper than rental, but remember that extra luggage means bigger rental car and higher rental fees as well as wasted time at the airport and hassle of carrying it. Currently the estimated price is £450 for 9 days including everything, but food. This price might either go up or down slightly, again based on different factors.
What’s to do in the area?
There is plenty to do and see in the area. Cycling, hiking, climbing, paragliding. Sky is the limit… and also your wallet ;] There is also plenty of luxurious thermal baths in the area, that hopefully we will make good use of. We will be staying right beside Tatry National Park, area of outstanding beauty. And Slovakia is stone throw away if you wish to visit it. Also over last two days we will visit Krakow with it’s Unesco protected Old Town and beautiful architecture. We can also arrange a trip to famous Wieliczka Salt Mines or Auschwitz if you wish. Most importantly we will have the chance to watch and support world best cyclist at 2017 Tour de Pologne. Cyclists the likes of Alberto Contador, Ivan Basso, Ion Izzaguire, Nicholas Roche, Michal Kwiatkowski and Rafal Majka(2015 winner) took part in it before.
