After a successful hilly and several riders testing on Wednesday night with some very impressive times. The start of the season saw Matthew Armstrong smash the record and he was back to have another go at it. Nathan Mullan was back ready to see if could better that time with a selection of visitors ready to test themselves on a tough course.
Thankfully the weather was kind and the rain stayed away although the warm night changed quickly as the temperature dropped and was felt by those standing about. The ride out was tough as what seemed like was a calm night was clearly a testing head wind although the speed was up on the way back.
The main men looked like the wind wasn’t in their faces as the quickest time of the night was set by Lindsay Watson with an awesome time of 22:48. You can always tell it was quick as Nathan looked suitably disappointed to not take the fast time. Matthew Armstrong is still coming back from his bad accident and clearly didn’t want to lose his record time without a fight. As it turned out both Armstrong and Mullan finished in a time of 23:23 to share the Dromara CC riders record for this course.
The fastest lady of the night was Emma Johnson who was just quicker than Wannita Broome with Emma posting a much improved time from the last Dundrum Line TT. The two riders of he night should go to Ben Wilson and Lexi Broome who battled through that wind with both showing true grit and determination to complete this tough time trial course.
In the middle of the pack it seems there are some quickly improving riders with Davy Henderson and Darren McCann both posting PB’s if I am not mistaken and John Shanks doing a sub 26 showing he must be in form for the season ahead.
Many thanks, as always, to our volunteers who sacrificed their night to make it a safe race.
Timekeepers – Jack and Aaron with support from Aidan T made sure all the times were correct.
Turn marshals – Noel G, Gary G, Trevor B, Kieran Q and Brendan D gave the riders a decent lift from all the shouting of support….it was support they were shouting?…anyway its a tough job at the turn so well done.
Marshals at the road junction – Ivan B and Brett A made sure we had no cars pulling out in front of some very fast moving cyclists. Finally Christina T for taking some awesome shots of the riders – great job.

Finally the results are below with handicaps and full league to follow.

Tonight there were two trophies up for grabs.
Crossgare Shield – Fastest overall on the Dundrum Road across two events
Upper Crossgare Plaque – Most improved rider across two events
Congratulations to Matthew Armstrong who managed to hold off Nathan Mullan by 9 secs to take the Crossgare Shield. On the night Emma Johnson had several contenders for this trophy but put in a tremendous performance to take the Upper Crossgare Plaque..
