Dear Dromara,
The night was fresh and a generous loan of the spring weather system for July was granted to us by the weather Gods. How we love the wet slippery conditions for another installment on the Thursday evenings!
The club round 18 was almost overrun by guest riders and people from a club called Dromore? Isn’t this just a misspelling of… anyway to the fixture:
As usual the County Down aero bling was in full swing with the most competitive equipment on show continued consisting of shiny new helmets which are now becoming the norm. Fastest rider of the evening goes to Ronnie Smyth, followed closely by the ever improving junior – Jack Ferguson! Take note that Jack was on a road bike and not a super duper TT speed machine. Jack is having quite the week getting the second fastest time on Tuesday night at the Shimna Hill Climb and clearly the legs are in fine shape as he was only 8 secs behind young Ronnie.
There was a great showing from the ladies on the evening with Wannita eclipsing Emma’s effort taking the club bragging rights for at least a week. Rumor has it that “female TT bike” has been the top phrase entered into google… The fastest lady of the night was Andrea Cunningham from Dromore CC with a fabulous effort.
This Time Trialling is where every second counts, this week Kevin W proved that the new TT bike was a worthwhile investment as he beat Gareth W by a whole ONE second. Rumours that Gareth may be putting an appeal in regarding the bike holder releasing him 1.5 secs late and giving Kevin W a push. Clearly these shocking allegations have been disproved and the lost second was down to Gareth show boating at the turn with his one handed wheelies (according to Gareth) although Kevin W has come back to question why he didnt stop and chat to that marshals at the crossroad like he did.
Many thanks to all the marshals and timekeepers for giving up their time and a special mention to Neil Armstrong for volunteering being persuaded to be Chief Marshal (we won’t mention Portugal-gate).
TURN: Stephen W, Chris M and David D
CROSSROADS A: Graham McC, John G and Neil F
CROSSROADS B: Robert McD, Marcus M
FLOATING MARSHAL: Trevor W
TIMEKEEPER/Chief Marshal: Neil A
Results are below with adjusted Handicap results. Club League table can be found here – check your points and marshal duties as we have added a few deliberate mistakes as always.
