Newry 3 Day Preview & Info. Good Luck Lads

Date: Friday 1st July to Sunday 3rd July 2016
Late on Thursday evening text messages were going back and forth. With riders still not sure where sign on is, what time the race starts at on Friday night or where the race even goes over the weekend, it was time to get the team organised with sign on times and race routes.
Stage 1
Sign on from 5:30pm – 7:00pm at St. Marks High School Warrenpoint
Race roll out 7:05pm, with race start at Narrow Water.
Distance: 35.3 miles
Weather: Sunny with light showers
The racing kicks off on Friday 1st July shortly after 7pm in Warrenpoint when the riders will tackle the flat dual carriageway before hitting a stinger of a hill in the form of Greenan road before entering Warrenpoint again for 3 short laps.

Stage 2
Sign on from 9.00am-10.15am at Clonduff Gaa rooms, Hilltown.
Race start at 10.30am
Distance: 64.5 miles
Weather: Sunny with light rain showers
After the fast stage on Friday night the riders will head to the hills and take on the roads around Hilltown to test the riders climbing skills. This stage which is 64.5 miles in length. Two big climbs on this stage with Elm Hall being the last big hill of the day before the bunch descends into Hilltown with the race finishing on the main street at approx 13:00.

Sign on from 8:30am – 9:30am at Newry Sports Centre
Race roll out at 10:00am
Distance: 73.3 miles
Weather: Sunny
With Sunday’s stage 3 being slightly different to last years route and taking in the coast road through Warrenpoint, Kilkeel, Annalong, Newcastle (Bunch expected to be in Newcastle approx 11:45am, maybe slightly earlier if Matthew Armstrong and Ronnie Smyth do a bit of work on the front). Before heading over to Bryansford out the Bryansford road and over to Kilcoo, Castlewellan, Rathfriland for a tough climb, Hilltown, Mayobridge and the finish in Newry on the Rathfriland Road.
