You know it is the summer in Northern Ireland because the rain is slightly warmer. Thankfully the organising committee worked with the euro officials to organise the Northern Ireland match to be played before the Road Race started. No warm up for most as we streamed the match to the mobiles to see a famous victory sealed. With half the population in France watching the match we managed to get more marshals than racers to take on Drumaroad Road Race.
So first up as I was travelling over to the race with the rain lashing against the windscreen and the radio at full volume to hear the match I think we need a large a warm felt thank you to all the marshals that turned up. At corner 4 we had the only bit of excitement with Jack deciding to set the bike down on the tarmac and Aaron very concerned that Jacks bike was ok. Thankfully Jack managed to walk away with only a few scrapes and scratches to him and the bike.

A large Group 1 set off with hopes of glory on a tough rolling circuit that was drying quickly with some 4 mins later group 2 were set off to hunt them down and finally Scratch were set off 3mins later. Group 1 tried to get organised and hold out for the win like last time but Aaron and Jack in Group 2 had the bit between their teeth and had made a minute up by corner 4 never mind the first lap. Another man with the bit between his teeth was Nathan who had scratch group strung out from the start. David Dickson was having issues with which left to take so he took a right for some extra training.
By lap 2 of this 4 lap race fractures were happening in every group with only Nathan and Paul Wilkinson in scratch and Aaron charging to make the catch with group 1. On lap 3 everyone was together rolling into the last lap but by the final corner Aaron, Nathan & Paul W were together for the final sprint to the line. Nathan edged out Paul with Aaron taking a great third place in fact it is hard to keep Aaron and Nathan off the podiums these days.
In the race behind Davy B had made a break with David H on his wheel and it was David H’s well timed move gave him 4th with the rest following him in.

While the road race was going on young Matthew A was taking part in the Kinning Hill Climb and even though there was only one corner still managed to go off course before recovering and taking first junior on the night.
