It all happened this weekend with Dromara CC members taking part in Road races to MTB races all over the place. First up was the Hugo Loughran GP on Friday night that saw Matthew Armstrong and David Dickson mixing it up in the A3 race. By all accounts they were all over the front end of the race with a bit of bad luck stopping either for scoring any points. In the masters race Trevor Wright proved he can not only TT but has a decent sprint on him as he took 2nd place in the masters race.
On Sunday the Clougher Valley GP took place with Stephen Irvine having a go in the A3 race and Ronnie Smyth in the A2 race. Young Irvine gave us a quote after taking the KOH jersey “I was attacking hard the first lap and everything was getting pegged back so I sat in the lounge for a bit end of the second lap I give it everything and that 1 stuck 2 guys followed me out and we opened up a 2min gap I attacked them for the KOH and that was me zonked 2 guys came past me on the downhill I couldn’t get the wheel I thought they’d get pulled back by the group so I sat up and the rest is history….” – Awesome riding. Ronnie had a great race coming in 8th in a very competitive A3 race.

The second round of the NPS took place at Djouce and several DCC members went down to tackle a very challenging course. Barry Kellett had an interesting race in the S1’s using his usual tactic of giving everyone a head start and trying to pass them. Alas he ran out of laps to get a podium but took a very credible 6th place. Peter Davison claims to arrived down and forgotten his legs and will no doubt be beating his mechanic as he failed to finish having started well. In the S3 Womens our adopted queen of the mtb Andra Ungureanu took her first race win….now where is that DCC membership form.

Finally congratulations to Brendan and Davy Foster who completed the Belfast Marathon on Monday. Brendan took just over 4 hrs 15mins and Davy Foster produced a super time of 3hr 12min. And not to forget to wish a Happy 18th Birthday to Peter Davison.
This week is the 2 UP at Lurgan Road and I believe Graham Beckett will be looking helpers for the coastal so give him a shout if you can give a hand.
