It was the second round of the Club League and another so called ‘Fun’ event with the 5 Up TT from Hillsborough to Ballynahinch. The teams are picked on the night with each team having a range of riders spread between all teams and the goal to keep everyone together and get to Ballynahinch the quickest – what could be easier. The first task is picking teams and this in itself can take a bit of time as everyone debates the merits of each rider. Thankfully 5 teams were available to take run the gauntlet.

Each team uses different tactics to get everyone to the finish line and drafting behind a stronger rider isn’t the only tactic to use. As it turns out it doesnt matter if it is an individual TT, a 2 UP TT or a 5 UP TT I am afraid every second counts in this game. When the time keepers had checked the times we find that David Dicksons Team and Gavin Magowans team took joint first with a time of 18min 23secs.
The rest of the results are below:

Many thanks as always to the marshals standing out there on a cold night. Next week will be the real start to the club league with the first Individual TT of the year held on the Dundrum Line. There are only 3 marshals down for this so get using the marshal form if you can help out. From the word on the street no one has been training over the winter and most can barely ride the bike so times should be slow ;-). Having said that there have been pictures appearing of some very fast Time Trial Bikes being ridden by a few DCC members.
Over the next month Dromara has several events that will require marshals, helpers, sign on crews, Route markers etc so please keep an eye on facebook and the forum. First up will be the Third World Sportive and a XC MTB Event followed by the Coastal so it will be all hands on deck.
Have you got tickets for the 30th Anniversary Ball yet…..if not why not. The Anniversary Ride and free BBQ is also available so if you can make it then please tell us. The Casual Clothing will have last orders next week – 15th April will be the last opportunity to get an order in for hoodies, hats & tops.
Photos can be found either on facebook or flickr. See you all next week and please remember to have Rear Lights.
