Irish National Cyclocross Champs are just around the corner
On Sunday 10th January at Tollymore Forest Park the very best cyclocross racers across Ireland will put their skills to the test in the 2016 Irish National Cyclocross Championships. The Host club Dromara CC which is having its 30th Anniversary have the honour to put on this prestigious event.
The Ladies Race see’s more than 20 take part and will certainly be a very exciting race with Fran Meehan looking to defend her title from a host of ladies like Maria Larkin, Maeve O’Grady and Emily Birchall.
The Juniors race is looking to be hotting up with Cameron McIntyre & David Conroy going up against Adam Duff the current Ulster champion. The M40 will see Robin Seymour make his debut in this category and will need to keep an eye on Jason Henry if he is to add another jersey to his vast collection. In the M50 race Des Woods and Johnny Bogues will go head to head again with Des Woods the favourite to take this.
In the Main race of the day the Senior Men will be one of the closest championships for years. David Montgomery is the previous champion and has been away in Belgium sharpening his skills. There are plenty looking for that jersey with Roger Aiken coming into form and Glenn Kinning looking to show he can compete with the best in Ireland. The unknowns are the young guns like James Curry, Darnell Moore or Chris McGlinchey who get faster every race they attend. From south of the border Paul O’Grady has been showing great form and only a fool would rule him out with Sean O’Tuathail a possible dark horse. The host club will see Barry Kellett put on the club jersey hoping to claim a top 5 position considering his great form this year.
