Its Christmas, so time for some Stew
Every Christmas Deek Hanna organises the Christmas Stew Run and this year was no different. The good news is that you get an opportunity to make your bike and you feel a bit festive with the odd Santa hat. The run is for Dromara CC members only however since it is Christmas we allowed a few Elves to take time out from toy making to enjoy the spin.
In fact Santa even decided to make an appearance once he heard there was free stew going.
With all abilities showing up it was decided to split into 3 groups with the fast group full of winter racers and cyclocrossers. Thankfully the rain held off and although the wind made it fairly cold it seemed a happy bunch who completed the 50mile Stew Run.
Just to clarify that the Stew run is of course not a race and more a social event however as tradition dictates the 30mph sign in Dromara on the Dundrum Road is the finish line. No breakways, sprints or any other frolics are allowed until we have reached the Dundrum Line.
In the race to the line Ronnie S, Barry K and Michael C had several pops at going long but it was young Nathan M with his cyclocross winter training under his belt managed to get to the 30 first and bragging rights for the year.
With the run finished it was time to head to SquareOne in Dromara for a delicious bowl of piping hot stew. It was also an opportunity to hand out a few trophies to Kevin Walker for his third place in the Club League and Michael Cassidy for riding more miles than anyone(Once I get his report from his race you will see what i mean).

Finally some couldn’t make the Stew run for a number of reasons – but the best excuse for missing the Stew run goes to Chris and Bev. Chris whisked Beverley off to New York for the weekend before popping the question. A Big congratulations from everyone at Dromara CC.
Happy Christmas from Everyone at Dromara CC
