Foyleside sees Dromara CC take podium
Rnd 7 of the ulster Cyclocross didnt go missed by this reporter and I even got let out to go play in the muck. No podiums for DCC wasnt the reason for no report as there were some brilliant performances. The Broome, Melville and Harrower junior family members flew the flag for Dromara with super performances that just keep getting better. Derek Minnis has been slowly improving in the MTB Support race and at Ormeau he made it into the top 10 surely a podium not too far away. I’ll save Brian Wilson’s epic ride to take 6th place for another day….
On to Rnd 8 of the Ulster Cyclocross which provided a new venue at St. Columb’s Park at Foyleside. Foyle cycling club put on a great event and great to see Dromara CC supporting them on their first CX event.

Ben Wilson managed to take another podium in the under 14 race to put more pressure on the auld lad. The B race saw Brian Wilson and Robert Davidson head the field heading out on the first lap but a mechanical stopped any chance of Brian getting on the podium even though he was with the leading group.
In the womens race Lisa Millar managed to put her injury woes behind her and take an awesome 2nd place with Alwynne Shannon only a 11 seconds ahead. Hopefully this form will continue with the Nationals not far around the corner.
in the A race Barry Kellett showed in practice that bunny hopping the barriers isnt always the best option. However he did manage to do it in practice rather than some who saved their spill until the first lap. Barry’s 4th place meant that he is currently lying in 2nd place for the overall series with one race to go.
This Sundays race is at Falls Park and is the final in the Ulster Cyclocross series. With plenty of mathematical permutations to see who is going to win the Series we can only pass on our best of luck to Barry.
