Final Club League Round – Begney Hill Climb
When we arrived it was a beautiful evening perfect for a hill climb. Give it 15 mins and the rain started and didnt stop until we all got home. The final hill climb as well as final round of the club league saw 20 cheerful competitors test there 1min power.

Since arriving at this club I have been told that this is a climbers hill climb…..no its a power climb that suits a TT specialist….no its a perfect climb for a strong sprinter…..no it doesnt suit anyone. It hurts for a minute or more and no one is ever happy with there climb.
Before we could get started the £2000 raised from the Hilly was officially handed over to Save the Children – photos to follow.
Once the PR jobs were out of the way Lisa M, Emma J & Trevor B organised the cyclists into the correct order and set them off every 30secs. Zak Hanna having won at Dree Hill Climb had suggested he wasnt able to make it but he couldn’t miss Begney. He produced a record breaking time of 55.9secs in far from perfect conditions. No one else went under the minute.

Finally it really should be mentioned at the start but they say to keep the best to last – Lisa M & Emma J with help from Trevor B & Eddie D deserve a warm congratulations on organising the hill climb and managing to get everyones time sorted considering the appalling conditions.
