CL Rnd 21 might have seen a changing of the guard
It was another visit to the Lurgan Road for this weeks individual 10m TT. This course seems to be very popular amongst club members, although personally I haven’t quite figured out why. The road surface is good, but it is by no means a flat course. However with not many club league events left in the calendar (where has the “summer” gone?!!), it was a chance for those taking part to find out if they have improved over the season. The recently changeable weather decided to stay dry and mild, although the warm southerly winds did pick up through the evening, creating a cross-wind along most of the course.
As always, thanks to the club members who gave up their time to marshal and timekeep, allowing the rest of us to have our “fun”! Our honorable secretary, who is back from his holidays, was unfortunately unable to attend due to having to take his son Dean to A&E after a nasty fall off his bike. We wish Dean a speedy recovery!
Timekeepers: Zak Hanna, Ronnie Smyth
Marshals: Stephen Wallace, Michael Mullan, Barry Kane, Robert McDonald (please let me know if I have missed anyone)
Also thanks to the Gibson clan who provided moral support for the riders along the course!
Provisional results below. Congratulations to Chris Magowan who was fastest on the night with an impressive 23:44, edging out “Big Bro” by 5 seconds!
The stand-out performance will be Colin McGready, putting in a sprightly 27:24; a fantastic time when you consider at the last TT his handicap was over 10 minutes! Also special mention to Davy Broome who unfortunately picked up a puncture on the return leg, walked part of the way back, and still put in a time of 33:48!!
Results first then Club League results after:
