Changing of the guard at the 2 Up TT – Club League
There are things in this world that you can depend on in fact you would back your house that they would happen. So the bookies would have made a killing on this result. But before we get into that lets take a step back……….
Everyone is getting ready to race the Harry Ferguson when a call comes on Tuesday night from one of our field operatives to inform us that the course will be in use for another event. We need to change to Drumaroad……no road has been badly resurfaced, Kinallen circuit…….ehhhh seee last reason. How about we do the 2 Up that was cancelled?
And the reorg starts – many thanks to marshals for telling me if they could make it or would like to have time trialled. Apologies for the change of venue especially those who had prep’d their race bike but these things happen.
So next thing you know there is a scramble for partners and you are hurtling from Banbridge to make the start.
First off we need to thank Martin and the team of Marshals who yet again stepped up to the plate. Therefore Martin M, Neil F at the start who managed to organise the hoards of cyclists into a line ready for the start, Noel G, Gary G and Michael M at McCoy’s garage who shouted much needed support as well as making it safe to turn. Finally and by no means least young Martin Grimley for sorting out the times and bringing some very tasty buns which I believe were very well received by the visitors.
To get back to our original story at the start – its a 2Up and the Magowans are heading to the start line its a done deal or is it. Brendan T was in search of a partner and a person that has kept the Magowans on their toes at the TT’s. Graham McC was also looking a dream team was formed. Others were looking for partners and everyone got hooked up for the night.
It was a busy road and thats my excuse for not finishing higher up the table – tractors and cyclists *shakes head*
Anyway when the results were calculated and double checked it was apparent that the Magowans time of 27:28 was good but not quite good enough as the dream team of Brendan and Graham stormed in with a time of 27:15 to take the win. Is this the changing of the guard? Third place on the night was our visitors Tim Beattie and Mark Short producing a super time of 28:32.
