DCC Round Up: Club League to Crit’s
From what I hear it is holiday time – the summer is here……..and its away again. Once the schools start I have every faith the sun will be back. With so much going on its hard to keep up but here we go….
Young Peter Davidson has been learning how to wheelie a road bike in preparation for his first road victory I am told but until then he is still mixing it with mountain bikers. Peter produced an excellent performance to take 4th at the Irish xc nationals in Tipperary and just keeps getting quicker and quicker.
Having a Club League cancelled due to poor weather in July has got to be a first but alas these things happen. On Thursday it was back to Time Trialling with a twist……One way you say….wind better be blowing in the right direction. The new route was a 10 mile one way time trial from Lisburn, through Annahilt to Ballynahinch turn up the Lisburn Road to the finish near the furniture store. With it being holiday time Marshals were light on the ground so a HUGE thanks to the volunteers for coming along. We were very short of marshals signed up for this round and are very grateful for those who did step up.
Start – Ronnie S and Stephen W
Annahilt – Eddie D, Andrew F, Robert McD, Gary G
Noel G
Finish line – Neill C on the corner
Timekeepers – Dorothy G and Martin.
A close battle between the Magowans with Gavin a little worried at the finish to see how Chris had done. Congratulations to Brendan Duff who has only recently become a father. It didn’t stop him from putting in a great time tonight.

Town centre criterium racing returned to Banbridge on Friday night (24 July 2015) as Banbridge CC promoted Round 5 of the SEAT Super Seven series. Zak Hanna proved he was quite capable to hold his own with some elite riders and would earn him the award for 1st A3 rider.
The Saturday club run managed to make the most of the weather with Peter Bryson our birthday boy showing he hasn’t lost it by picking up a ’30’ into Newcastle. Happy Birthday Peter and still not old enough to get into the DCC Masters team.
The weather had been lovely on Saturday but that had all changed on Sunday but that didnt stop the DCC boys heading to the Noel Taggart Memorial Race. In the A4 race saw Graham Beckett, Ivan Bradford and Robert McDonald that they are not sugar or salt to survive a great race. In the A3 race Matthew Armstrong, Zak Hanna and David Dickson had a great race with David Dickson taking a brilliant 6th place.
Thats enough for now but two things to remember –
1. This Thursday it is The Harry Ferguson Club Road Race and I only have 5 marshals. If you can marshal can you make sure to put your name on the forum.
2. The Hilly Sportive is on the 9th August – You will see a post on the forum where you can tell Graham Beckett when and where you can help out even if it is only 1 hour we really need your help to run this.
