Podium places at Tommy Givan RR & Champions of Champions TT
On Saturday Maryland Wheelers hosted the Tommy Givan Memorial Race with a great selection of races starting with the ladies race followed by the under 16 race before the A4 race and Main race.
This 9 mile course is well known by many DCC members and we had representation in all races with Keri Parton competing in the womens race with Matthew Gibson having a real go in the under 16 race.
The A4 race saw quite a collection of Dromara men get to the start line with David Dickson the man in form. He didn’t let himself down by producing a break for the line to take a brilliant 3rd place to give him enough points to be upgraded to the A3 race.
The main race saw Gavin, Ronnie, Zak, Graeme C, Stevie W and Richard C start with an elite field and it turned out to be a very fast race. The first few laps saw quite a few break away attempts with Gavin managing to get in one. When the race was over Gavin had taken a very credible 6th place.
With all the racing done it was Dromara’s opportunity to promote the 7 race series with the Seat Car – who let Zak drive!!!
Champions of Champions TT
The TT boys and girls had been awaiting the opportunity to test themselves over a 25 mile course. The ability to break the magic hour is always the goal. There was plenty of DCC interest at this event and with the wind picking up it was far from easy. Keri Parton had a great ride taking 3rd lady in 1hr 7min with Brendan Duff was the fastest DCC man of the day and breaking the magic hour by 50 secs. The other DCC competitors were BVK 1:02:04, Gareth Woodall 1:07:03 and Graham McConnell 1:07:39.
