Record Numbers at the coastal & Gavin clinches a podium at Tour of Mournes
It all started slowly when the pre-entry for the coastal opened, however the 250 places were all filled up before the closing date. Even an extra 50 places couldn’t satisfy the demand for this Sportive. For those that had entered the weather forecast is pawed over and debated and everyone tries to convince themselves that the rain will stay away. Thankfully the rain stayed away but the wind picked up making the run from Ardglass to Strangford a tad faster than normal.
Can’t beat a feed of sandwiches to get you through the day.
The good news was that Strangford had the food waiting including a chair to rest the legs before the home leg. There were many happy faces and plenty of stories to tell. After the food stop the choice to do the 60 mile or 80 mile route was up to how your legs feel.
Hopefully everyone had a great time completing the Dromara Coastal Sportive and will be inspired to maybe have a go at the hilly. Many thanks to everyone in the club who helped from taking time to mark the course to serving teas to 300 plus thirsty cyclists.

Tour of Mournes
The 2015 Tour of the Mournes was promoted today by Newry Wheelers in dry but cool and blustery conditions. Thankfully though, the heavy rain which was forecast did not materialise. David Hamilton and Liam Dolan managed to break away to take the top 2 podium positions but our very own Gavin Magowan managed to snatch a gap from the remaining peleton take an awesome 3rd place.
