What did you do at the weekend?
I thought I would do a quick catch up report after a fun filled week/weekend for DCC riders young and old. So first off was Friday night with the MTB Club League which is now in full flow. With a new course to test the riders and a few newbie’s giving it a go it was Wannita Broome taking the win followed by Derek Minnis with Gibson Chambers taking the final podium place. The next round is the Enduro round which has me intrigued so I may have to give it a go.
On Saturday Team Dromara headed to Keady for the Uphill TT organised by Orchard CC. With a very impressive field Zak Hanna managed a 10th place, Martina Hawkins took a superb 2nd in the ladies event with Bernie just missing out on the podium with a 4th.
The Saturday Club run was down at numbers and it wasnt due to the change in the weather that caused this. The Team Dromara pro’s had taken the week off to go to the Spring training camp in Mallorca. Graham Beckett had put a lot of time and effort into organising this and from what I see on facebook it looks like a tough week of sun, sea and the odd mountain. Rumours that they had been away shooting photos for the first Team Dromara Catalogue have been denied although from the picture below I am not convinced.
For those out racing we had Keri Parton who was competing in the Mid Ulster GP but alas didnt make it around after a crash which I am glad to report she was able to walk away from. There was another DCC rider I see racing in the A4’s as well who was mixing it on the final sprint. Find the DCC rider below.
Finally on Sunday we had the Third World Charity Cycle from Downpatrick. This has been a well supported event and from all the excellent reviews from people that completed the event it is still hard to beat. Even with the pro’s away at the training camp there was plenty of Dromara CC colour at the event.
This week we will see the Club League return on Thursday night with the Flatfields race – details will be up on the forum tomorrow and if you can marshal then please put your name down.
