Dromara CC Stew Run
The club held their annual Christmas Stew Run on Sunday 21st December, with over forty cyclists starting in Dromara square to take part in an event what has established itself as a club favourite. There where even a few Santa’s and Elves out on their bikes, along with a bike that was yet to be unwrapped.
The riders rode out the Dundrum road towards Claragh Bridge, before turning left through Drumaroad, Spa, into Ballynahinch then out to Downpatrick. The riders then headed towards Clough, then heading to Tyrella, then out to Aughlisnafin towards Claragh Bridge onto the home straight to Dromara.
At this point let us just clarify that this is not a race but a social event however just before the end someone out one of these up
With the knowledge that the sign existed it really comes down to an invisible start line. The sprint for the 30mph sign into Dromara is seen as the biggest sprint of the year, and riders where attacking from before Guiness Primary School in order to try and get to the finish first.
Nathan Mullan won the sprint to the line after the riders fought off a brutal headwind for the last 8 miles.
The riders all gathered in Square One pub for a bowl of stew, kindly made by the staff at Square One. Plenty of Guiness was consumed before Nathan was presented with the inaugural Stew Run trophy, made by Chris Magowan as he had some spare time over there at Ulster Bus.
On behalf of all at Dromara CC, we would like to everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
