Final Hill Climb of the season – Begney Hill
The great news for the final hill climb of the season was that Summer has come back for a final swan song. With Lisa taking the role of head marshal/organiser everyone was signed up and ready to go in super quick time. Trevor B & Roisin stepped up to do the task of time keepers which is never an easy task.
With this being the final hill climb all the big hitters had turned out in force. Nathan arrived fresh from passing his driving test, Zak arrived fresh from his secret coaching session and Gavin & Ronnie arrived ready to go. The weather has been kind to for the hill climbing season and it was a lovely evening for a bit of suffering.
I am pretty sure that the road service have increased the gradient on that climb from last year but I havent got this confirmed. With Zak in such good form and Linda winning the club league it seemed only right that we made them do it twice.
Gavin produced an excellent hill climb in 61 seconds only for Nathan to be hundredths of tenths faster and hold the top spot. He didnt hold it for long as Ronnie arrived at the top of the hill and take the lead. With Zak being in great form most wouldnt have bet against him taking the win but with this being his second run at this climb due to a timing issue all bets were off. Zak crossed the finish line in 59 secs and the only man to break the minute this year.
Young Ben W needs a quick shout out as he managed to break 90 secs for the climb which is a major achievement and will be one to watch in the future.
