Round 21 – Spa 10m TT
Just before we get started on the report of the Spa 10m Sufferfest it seems appropriate to post a couple of announcements:
Congrats to Barry and Niamh Van Kellet on the arrival of their Baby Girl Fiadh.
All the best to Gary Bailie who gets married this weekend – rumours of bike stuff being sold next week are unfounded I believe ;-).
Now back to the Spa 10m TT, for those that listen to the weather forecast would have been told it was going to be a wet night at Spa. Thankfully the rain decided to stay away and even the sun tried to sneak out, however the wind was most unpleasant.
It was great to see 27 riders testing themselves over a tough course made harder by the headwind on the way back. With Brendan D showing great performances over the past weeks and the last 5 mile requiring plenty of power there had been suggestion that young Gavin M might not get the fastest time. As it turned out Gavin held on for the fastest time of the night at 23:56, Brendan wasn’t too far off at 24:16 & Ronnie S had a great ride with a time of 24:44.
With all this competitiveness around the TT’s it is great to see people smashing PB’s and putting in great performances. Roisin picked up full league points tonight with a super ride and showing that her time was more than 10mins quicker than her first TT.
After the suffering had ended everyone was in there was much demand for tea, coffee and biscuits which was lucky as team Millar were on hand (once they put their mobile phones done ) to dish out the hot beverages and open up the big tin of biscuits.
Suitably refreshed the riders found their voices and shared stories of the horror of the ‘way back’. Tried to work out where they could have gained extra seconds.
Many thanks to the timekeepers – Peter B, Chris M and Graham B.
Thanks to the marshals at the turn – Raymund M, Graham McC and Robert McD
Thanks to the marshals at the crossroads – Barry K and Gary B
Thanks to Martin for keeping everything running smoothly.
And finally thanks to our Quality Assurance Manager Marty McA who called down to make sure all is in order.
