Round 11 – Dundrum Line 10m TT
I think we can all agree that summer has finally arrived although how long it lasts is another story. The fact that it wasnt raining and the wind wasnt too bad I am sure had nothing to do with a huge turn out of 43 riders.
10m TT’s are such straight forward affairs that involve riding 5 miles one way as hard as you can, turning around and riding as hard as you can 5 miles back. If its your debut and you are not sure then dont worry as there will be plenty of cyclists to follow. Richard M’s TT debut took a rather strange turn when he missed the turn chasing another cyclist who wasnt doing the TT. Needless to say a quick tour of the countryside later Richard managed to make it back to the car park for a cuppa. Better luck next time Richard.
Gavin MaG has been in tremendous form of late and set the quickest time of the night at 23:49, however he was not alone with this time as our Phoenix visitor for the night Phil O’Neill matched the time with a super ride. Third place was very close with Chris Mag managing to hold off 4th place Brendan Du by 5secs with a time of 24:31.
As always its hard to mention all the great times that were achieved out there but a quick mention to Matthew A with a storming time of 25:46. And finally before the thanks an impressive time for BVK who managed to make it to the start line bashed and bruised having been taken out by a dog – lesson here is if the dogs running at you they dont always stop.
A great turn out again of female riders, with Lisa on TK duty nursing her wounds after coming off at the weekend in a bike race. Martina H showed that she was the quickest lady of the night with a great time of 29:04.
Many thanks to Lisa and Richard for timekeeping and to Marcus for bike holding and marshalling.
Many thanks to the other marshals on the course: Noel G, Neill C, Marty McV (Shimna Wheelers), Graham McC, Ronnie S, Kevin McD. Just remember even if you are not down to marshal we are always happy to see you on the night to help out.
When handing out the thanks it sames right to hand out a super Thanks to Martin G who tirelessly sorts us all out and brings all the flags, Jackets, cones and sign on forms. And always worries about not having enough marshals.
