Dromara CC on Tour take Podium Positions at Lakeland GP
After a glorious day on Thursday night at the club league the weather took a slight change with rain threatening for the weekend. The Dromara Tour Bus was organised to leave Annahilt at 7:30am on Saturday Morning heading to Enniskillen and the Lakeland GP. Alas even the best laid plans can go wrong when the bus broke down just outside Auger – thankfully another bus came to pick the stricken riders and get them to the start line with minutes to spare. Who needs a warm up anyway.
The A3 race was a quick race with a few people attempting to get away but with the strong head wind everyone was reeled back into the group. Zak Hanna had a coming together with another rider going down hard but thankfully was able to make it back to the finish. As was expected it was a bunch finish where our very own Nathan Mullan showed his sprinting prowess and take an excellent 2nd place – must be A2 for young Mullan by now.
The A4 race was a lovely rolling start where we picked up a few extra riders waiting at the start line. It didnt take long for the speed to pick up with a nice tail wind on the way to the climb. There were 11 Dromara CC riders taking part in this race and it wasnt long until Graeme B put in an attack however the group was very keen not to let anyone away. At the start of the climb Graeme B had a crack at getting away but the strong headwind stopped any chance of success. On the final gallop to the finish Stevie Wallace managed to get second with Gary Bailie in 5th place.
The masters race saw Mike Barton finishing strongly in the group.
A great result for the club and many thanks to Chris, Gary B & Tommy D for helping organise a great day out. Finally a big thanks to Lakeland CC for a well organised race with a great feed at the end – kudos team.
