Club League Round 4 – Spa TT
The Club League Weather Organiser listened to the constructive criticism regarding the strong wind and could have been warmer comments. This week the sun was still out and slight breeze was provided for the route back to Spa (everyone claimed it was head wind both ways). I am sure the weather had nothing to do with the fact that we had 38 Dromara Riders plus 2 visitors ready to tackle the Spa TT.
The marshals had checked the course, marked the road and given final instructions so that we could get under way at 7pm. Peter B was the time keeper for the night and kept all the cyclist in order.
The fastest rider on the night was Gavin Magowan in a time of 24:21 which was only 2 seconds faster than Ronnie Smyth with Chris Magowan showing plenty of form to take 3rd in 24:48. This year it has been great to see a growing number of women taking part and Keri Parton produced an excellent time of 27:50 and seems to get faster each week.
The important thing about Time Trials is to remember that they are hard challenges put here to test us. It takes great courage to take on these Time Trials so respect to all who took part. They were great times tonight with Lisa Millar breaking the 30min barrier & Graham Smyth on his first club TT doing the same to name a couple.
As always Many thanks to the timekeepers, Peter B and Stephen W, to the photographers Richard C and Josuha, to Richard for going and picking up Tommy D who had a puncture, for the marshals at the turn, Mike B, Paul W and Brendan D and to Lisa’s kids Olivia and Sam for sorting out the catering again.
Respect to all and see you next week at Hillsborough.
