Sean Downey retains the Plough cup after a convincing win improving on last years win by 8 seconds. The challenge involved a 0.21mile climb up Begney hill Dromara combined with a 0.18 mile freewheel down the other side to the finish. Nearing the finish the road starts to rise again which last year caused problems for some of the young riders. As a result this year it was decided to let them pedal on the decent in what ever gear the crossed the stop pedal line at the top. Tactics come in as the speed carried from the top of the hill is crucial meaning an all out attack from the off could mean crawling exhausted over the top. From the results it would seem Davy Mcknight benefited most from the decent crawling back the 3 sec he lost to Ronnie on the climb leaving them equal 2nd (someone didn't time to hundredths) but still well behind Sean. Michael Runciman faired worst from the freewheel. The lightest rider loosing out to Caroline and Stephen after a good charge up the hill. But then that is what this event was about, equalling the weight advantage/disadvantage.
