Bann Valley Classic 2011 |
Saturday 09 April 2011 Banbridge CC hosted a revamped John Beggs and Sean McGreevy Memorial Races on Saturday 9th April 2011. There were some changes to the final run in to the finish line for all races – the John Beggs returned to Dromore for a grand finish in the town while the support races had a new finish line closer to Dromore. The John Beggs race was for the A1 & A2 riders with the Sean McGreevy race as the A3 race. There was also an A4 race. All riders took on the dreaded Ballykeel hill. COMMENTS FROM RIDERS DEREK HANNA That was a brute of a race. Six times up Ballykeel hill in that heat. Well done Gavin who done a load of work in our race (A3) and Chris and Ryan Mallon in the a4 race. Both finished in the ever dwindling bunch. I think Ronnie Smyth attacked the A1s too many times. Thank goodness for local knowledge. GAVIN MAGOWAN As Derek says brutal race. Thanks to the DCC crew around the
track giving a much needed lift that kept us going!!! That was the hardest race yet. I thought I’d left enough for the sprint but the legs had a different idea. I was just glad to get over the line in the end. Well done to all the Dromara riders and especially young Ryan. Great ride. A big thank you to all the Dromara members shouting support. It takes that support to keep you going up those hills. Cheers. We (A4s) had 5 laps at 21.5 mph average. Race reports on Cycling Ulster here | Photos by Marian Lamb, Cycling Ulster |
