This is the fourth
time that the club have used the Dunmore course. Special thanks
to the landowner, Mr Wightman, for continuing to support this sport by
allowing this race to take place. The course will be very similar to
the one used in the Irish Championships in July 2009 .
The senior course is approximately 3 miles and winds its way up and
over both peaks of Dunmore mountain. From the top of the

Course Description: Dunmore
Mountain is located just south of Spa in the heart of County
Down. The course is on private land and it is with thanks to the
landowner that the club gets to use it to hold a mountain bike
event. The start/finish area including the youth races up to
Under 12s is located in the main field which itself is quite
undulating. The main races head out of this field and up and over
the first, and smaller peak, of the mountain before heading down
through the ferns and bushes before starting the climb up to the second
peak. The climb is in 4 stages to get to the upper area of the
mountain and then for the non-sports/U16 race the course heads up again
to the highest point of the mountain. The downhill is sweeping
with some tight turns before it heads along a patch of marsh land and
down to the rock slab. Once over the rock there is a fast single
track section back to the main field. The main course has around
500ft of climbing and there have been several new sections added from
the course used for the Irish National Championship Race in 2009.
