Ronnie gains cat 2 status
at Aghagallion Cup race |

| Aghagallion Cup 6 April 2008 Today saw a full program of senior and youth races with our own Ronnie Smyth gaining the remaining points to take him up to S2 category in the Cycling Ireland licencing system after an impressive 5th position. This is after just returning from Majorca where he clocked up 500 miles in one week. Well done Ronnie. Results 1. Stuart Henry (North Down CC) 2. Jonny Cole (Team Magigan) 3 Tommy Wilson (Ballymena -Scott Tiles) 4. Gordon Scott (East Antrim-Audi) @ 30 secs 5. Ronnie Smith (Dromara CC) 6. Gary Wilson (East Antrim-Audi) Also at the event was Dromara CC's youth rider Zak who writes ... "I had a go at this open road race today for the first time and had a great time. The was 14 riders in the u-14s' and had 3 laps of a 3 1/2 mile course. On my first lap I stayed in the main bunch, leading as we began the 2nd lap. I was eventually dropped and ended up finishing 8th Tired, but happy! Well done to Clann Eireann on a really well run event. " For more details about the race, see the Cycling Ulster website.
