League - Round 5 10 mile time trial - Annahilt circuit (map) 2 May 2013 Round 5 of Dromara CC's club league was a 10 mile circuit time trial around the Annahilt triangle. Being a circuit TT there were 3 corners to marshal requiring 10 marshals as well as 2 timekeepers. Many thanks to the members for volunteering their help. It was a nice dry evening with a good turn out of riders at the start area which was the garden centre on the Ballynahinch Road. First away was Noel Gibson and he was followed one minute later by club chairman Peter Bryson. The remaining riders all went at one minute intervals. With the numbers going out there was little time between the last rider leaving the garden centre and the first one arriving into Ballynahinch. Fastest rider on the night was Ronnie Smyth who completed the circuit in 24 minutes and 13 seconds. This event had a trophy associated with it, the Pheasant Cup, so congratulations to Ronnie on winning this. Over a minute behind Ronnie was Marcus Magowan (25:25) with Gareth Kirkwood 3rd on 25:43. Conor Rice was 4th (25:50) just beating Tommy Downey by one second. The fastest rider with no time trial equipment was Jonathan McBride who finished 7th overall. Three female riders took part this evening with Lisa Millar fastest ahead of Alwynne Shannon and Bernie Monaghan. Many thanks to the timekeepers and to marshals. Timekeepers: Barry Kellett and Bryce Hetherington Marshals: Point A - Jim McMaster and Michael Mullan Point B - Chris Magowan, Gavin Magowan, Gary Bailie and Stephen Wallace Point C - Tony Quinn, David Hawthorne, Graham Beckett and Paul Jess Photographs: Martin Grimley Report: Martin Grimley |
