16/25 mile TT - Castlewellan - Banbridge (map)

With the good weather still continuing it was great to head down to the Bann Road just outside Castlewellan with the picturesque hills on both sides and the blue sky above for Round 16 of Dromara Cycling Club's league. Riders could complete either the 16 mile distance (turning at McCoy's garage) or head onto Banbridge and then turn to complete the 25 mile time trial. Unlike last week this was an individual time trial but the distance must have put off many of the regulars as there were only 11 participants for this round.
There was no particular start order tonight so the riders just lined up when they were ready. First away was Paul Gick who was followed one minute later by David McClurg with Zak Hanna one minute behind David. These first 3 were all doing the 16 mile distance. Graham Beckett was the first of the 25 mile time trialers to set off with Nathan Mullan going one minute later and the remaining riders also going at one minute intervals.
Fastest for the 25 mile distance was Marcus Magowan in a time of 1 hour 3 minutes and 36 seconds. Conor Rice was just 9 seconds slower with Nathan Mullan on his road bike finishing 3 minutes behind Marcus. With regards to the 16 mile TT it was Ronnie Smyth who finished quickest in a time of 39 minutes and 20 seconds with Zak on 43:33 and David on 45:33.
Medals were on offer for both distances.
16 MILE TIME TRIAL
Gold - Under 38 minutes
Silver - 38:01 - 42:00
Bronze - 42:01 - 45:00
25 MILE TIME TRIAL
Gold - Under one hour
Silver – 1:00:00 – 1:04:59
Bronze – 1:05:00 – 1:10:00
However, riders could not win the same medal twice. Medals will therefore be awards to -

[16 mile TT] Ronnie Smyth (Silver), Zak Hanna (Bronze)
