Dromara CC Club League Round 15 16 mile Individual Time Trial - Hillsborough -> Ballynahinch |
|
17 July 2008 Tonight we had Round 15 of Dromara CC's club league and the second of the 16 mile time trials. In reverse of the last 16 mile TT, the event started just outside Hillsborough at the upmarket housing development, Governor's Gate and headed the 8 miles towards Ballynahinch. The turnout was again 14 riders (as per the last 16 mile TT) but out of these there were only 7 who have completed both events. The weather was dry with little wind, this after wet conditions for most of the day. More were expected tonight after the great turnout last week (28) in miserable conditions. It was commented that "it must be too dry for the rest of them boys!". The event did not start well for Alan Reid who managed to cut his thumb while setting up his bike and needed some first aid attention before managing to set off. Also with a spot of misfortune was Paul 'the machine' Smyth who had mechanical trouble on the way back and lost quite a bit of time. Derek Hanna has continued to improve and gained maximum points after time handicaps were applied. This despite the disappointment of getting beaten by Dennis McMullan by only one second on the actual finishing times. A big thank you to all the marshalls who showed up for the event (more than was necessary to safely run the event). It is great to see such support in the club! Thank you all. Tonights times
The table below shows a new adjusted times with handicaps based on the rider's 10 mile handicap. Well done to Derek Hanna for getting maximum points this round (40).
