Dromara CC Club League Round 13 10 mile Individual Time Trial - Spa, Ballynahinch |
|
3 July 2008 Our biggest turn out yet, with 25 showing up tonight for Round 13 of Dromara CC's club league. There was even a small crowd of spectators! Yet again it was great to see more new faces giving time trialing a go. It was the second time that this venue has been used this year, the previous occasion was the first round back in April, a 2-up time trial. Given the very wet weather all day it was great to see a nice dry evening and this helped to encourage so many to show up. Among the riders we had Darren Weir, back on his bike after recently breaking his collar bone and ribs, newcomers Connor and Ryan Mallon, and Ross Galway just back from 3 weeks in the USA. Fastest on the night was Paul 'the machine' Smyth, followed by Noel Gibson and amazingly Darren Weir, who has lost very little power in his legs over these weeks away from competitive cycling! Young Zak Hanna set a personal best tonight due, in some part, to his new aero bars. Well done Zak. Tonight also saw a great deal of club clothing being purchased after a new delivery arrived this week. The event was delayed due to the crowd gathered around a car boot trying on the new gloves! "It was like Paddy's market!"
The table below shows a new adjusted times with handicaps based on the rider's 10 mile handicap. Well done to Gavin Magowan for getting maximum points this round (40).
