Before we get started Dromara CC would like to pass on our deepest sympathy and condolences to the Wallace family after the passing of Cathy Wallace’s mother. The plan had been to cancel the TT as a mark of respect but the Wallace family asked that we continue with the TT.
Finally the first Dromara CC Individual Time trial to find out who has really be training over the winter and who has been talking about training over the winter. The night before had seen a few DCC riders head to Warrenpoint to test themselves on the TVR course and Armstrong and Mullan showed they had certainly been training over the winter. Rumours circulating about Gavin Magowan have been muttered all around the place, has he quit and taken up running, are fyffes his new sponsor and has he really spent money on a new bike – clearly all fantasy rumours as a yellow cervelo took to the stage.
The current record holder for this course is Gavin Magowan in a time of 23:49 with his brother Chris holding the next quickest time of 23:50. There are not many people that have went sub 24mins on this tough course but Matthew Armstrong has clearly been training hard and finished in a time of 23:32 smashing the record. The second quickest time of the night was Nathan Mullan at 24:08 with Gavin Magowan taking the third quickest in 24:20.
The first lady of the night was Roisin Wilson with a time of 30:53 with Jackie Wade the second quickest lady closely followed by Wannita Broome.
It was great to see so many out at the TT and more importantly many thanks go to the marshals who make it happen – Graham B, Ronnie S, David D, Trevor B, Kieran Q, Aidan T, Marek P, Linda F, Brett A, Raymund M, Gibsons and our top Tea & Coffee man Martin Grimley. Next weeks TT will be the Downpatrick Road and currently I have no marshals for this – if you can help out please either email richard@dromaracc.co.uk or add to the message board or use the marshal form.
